Ingredients:
- Moong Dal/Pesara Pappu/Yellow split dal – 1/2 cup
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Green chillies – 4 no’s, medium size, chopped
- Ginger – 1 inch piece, chopped
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- Curry Leaves – 2 sprigs
- Salt – to taste
For Talimpu/Tadka
- Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
- Jeera – 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida/Hing – 1-2 pinches
- Oil/ghee – 1 tsp
Method of preparation:
- Wash and pressure cook the dal with 2 cups of water for 2-3 whistles.
- Mash the dal and add a cup of water.
- Add the chopped, green chillies, ginger, turmeric powder and salt.
- Boil the dal for 2-3 minutes.
- Take a pan for seasoning and heat oil in it.
- Add mustard seeds, jeera, hing and curry leaves.
- Pour it in the dal and mix well. Allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
- Switch it off and once its not very hot add lemon juice and mix well.
- Serve as a soup/rasam with rice.
