Tomato Chutney


Ingredients :
  • Tomatoes – 3, big size, riped
  • Coriander Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Urad Dal – 1 teaspoon
  • Dry red chillies – 2 no’s
  • Green chillies – 3 no’s
  • Asafoetida/Hing – a pinch
  • Sugar – 1 tsp, optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – to need
For Tadka/Talimpu :
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – 2 twigs

Preparation Method :

1. Take oil a kadai and add urad dal and fry for a minute.
2. Add coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds and hing. Fry for a minute in a low fire.
3. Add onion first and fry until it becomes light pink.
4. Now add tomato and fry till it becomes soft.
5. Remove from the stove and allow it cool for some time.
6. Grind it in a mixer to a chutney consistency by adding little water.
7. Do tadka with the given ingredients and pour it over the chutney.
* Serve with idly/Dosa/Rice.
